Wayne Meldau Pickett

Wayne Meldau Pickett, 78, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2017 at his home in Harrisburg, North Carolina.

He was born June 28, 1939 to the late Hiram and Mary Pickett in Charlotte, North Carolina.  He graduated from Central High School where he was known as "Moo" while playing football. Wayne was a generous and kind hearted man, willing to give the shirt off of his back.  He never met a stranger.  Wayne was always joking and was ready to make you laugh at a moments notice.  He was a big Carolina Panther fan.  He was also an avid golfer.  If you saw him playing, his bright color clothing matched his personality.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Lynn Pickett; daughters, Shonda Woessner (Scott) of Connecticut, Mindy Alaraji; sons, Douglas Wayne Pickett, Darrell Wayne PIckett and William Randy Pickett; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his son, Brian Pickett; brothers, Phillip, Bobby, Otis, Gerrie; sisters, Mary, Barbara Jean and Carolyn.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region.
