Valorie Joy McKinney, born on February 18, 1969, in Jacksonville, Florida, left this world on November 11, 2024, in Concord, North Carolina, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience. Known for her humor and caring nature, Valorie was a devoted mother and grandmother who put her children and grandchild first.
Valorie's personality shone through her ability to greet life's challenges with strength and tenacity. She was not only a resilient fighter but also someone who brought joy to those around her with her love for joking around and dancing. Her laughter will be forever remembered by her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Crystal McManus, and son-in-law, Derrick Long. Her son, Josh McManus, and her beloved granddaughters, Autumn Harbour and Izzabella Long, were the light of her life. Valorie is also survived by her brothers, Jeff McKinney and Chris McKinney, along with her nephew, Trip McDermotte, her niece, Brianna McKinney, and her sister, Pamela Godwin. A constant companion, her dog Lugnut was always by her side, sharing in the joyous moments that Valorie created.
Valorie was preceded in death by her parents, Donald E. McKinney and Virginia Ruth White McKinney, as well as her siblings Sheila Anderson and Sherri McDermotte. She also mourned the loss of her nephew, Jesse McDermotte.
A memorial service to celebrate Valorie's life will be held on December 15, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Victory Temple, located at 3101 Cline School Rd, Concord, NC 28025. Friends and family are invited to come together to honor her memory.
Valorie will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
