Robert “Bob” F. Janosko, 90, of Concord, NC passed away on February 20, 2025. Robert was born on June 24, 1934 in Syracuse, NY to the late Frank and Anna Janosko.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters Joanne Galenstein and Mary Flewelling.

Robert is survived by his wife of 49 years, Phyllis Janosko; his daughters, Sarah (Dan) Orcutt and Julie (Wes) Frye; stepsons, Willim Askin, Michael (Sue) Askin, and Philip Askin; and seven grandchildren, Ryan and Liam Askin, Natalie and Leah Orcutt, and Claire, Waylon and Laila Frye; his brother-in-law, Ray Simons (Myrna); and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Robert grew up in Irondiquoi, New York, and he attended trade school in Rochester. He would go on to join the US Marine Corps from 1953-1955 as a mapping specialist. Once discharged, he went into the construction and carpentry businesses.

Eventually, Robert would meet and marry Phyllis Simons. They enjoyed a 49 year long marriage, not only having three boys- step sons to Robert, but two lovely girls together, going on camping trips, vacations to the small cottage he built in upstate New York, spending many hours fishing, and going to any classic car show they could. During their marriage, Robert and Phyllis would move from New York, to Florida, to Murphy, North Carolina, and in his later years to Concord, North Carolina.

Robert was a man of all trades; building, fixing, and rigging many projects throughout his life. He enjoyed working with his hands and bringing a smile to his loved ones faces. His stories are legendary, and never ceased to entertain all those listening. Robert was also a devout Catholic, attending mass no matter if he was home or on vacation. Even once he could no longer drive, he continued Catholic practices daily, and developed a personal relationship with Jesus from the example Phyllis set.

Although his role as husband, Dad, Pop Pop, Poppy, Grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend are through, his memory and legacy will live on in those who called him such.

A service will be held on March 20, 2025 at 11:00am at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Boulevard, Salisbury, NC.
