Richard James Kerns

Richard “Dick” James Kerns, 95, of Concord, NC passed away on August 23, 2021. He was born on February 15, 1926 in Seneca, NE to the late Elmer and Annie Kerns.
Along with his parents, Dick is preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Kerns; sister, Neva Kerns Collins; brother, Eugene "Bud" Kerns; brother, Norman Kerns; and sister, Marlene Kerns Garett.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Pete) Erbe; daughter, Sandra (Bruce) Wall; granddaughter, Maggie (Drew) Howard; granddaughter, Becky (Chris) McClamrock; great grandchildren Jake and Connor; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Dick was a veteran who served in the US Navy during World War II as an electrician. He was a creative person who expressed his creativity through oil painting, watercolor painting, woodworking and hot air engines. He was a very giving person and especially generous with his time. Dick enjoyed lending a hand and helping others including serving at his church with handiwork projects.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Morningside Assisted Living for their excellent care of Dick especially during his final days.
A visitation will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 2:00PM at Epworth United Methodist Church located at 1030 Burrage Rd, Concord, NC 28025. A memorial service will follow at 3:00PM. The service will be Live Streamed at https://epworthnc.com/
