Becky, 68, of Mint Hill passed from her earthly home and entered into her heavenly home on March 9, 2022 at Novant Hospital, Matthews, NC. She had been in declining health for the past 2 years.
Becky was the youngest of four children born on May 7, 1953 in Charlotte, NC to the late Viva and Bryan Houston. She was a 1971 graduate of Independence High School. She grew up on the family farm on Arlington Church Road. She always said she was a tomboy and followed her older brother Tommy around the farm. She was an animal lover and had many cats and dogs that she had adopted through the years. She also loved riding her horse as a young girl into her adult life. She was such a caring person who put everyone else and their needs before her own.
When her children were small, she worked in the cafeteria at Clear Creek Elementary and in later years she was a school secretary at Shamrock Garden Elementary. Whatever Becky did she always made sure it was her best. She loved her children and grandchildren so very much and wanted the best for them.
She leaves behind, to cherish her loving memory, her children Chris Wright, Danny Wright, Christi Cook (Ralph) and Allison Rollins. Her grandchildren Chasity Cook, Joseph Cook, Julieann Cook, Austin Quinn and Rebecca Cook. Siblings Judy Houston McRorie (J.W.), David Houston (Joy), Tom Houston (Yvonne) and an aunt Joyce Houston Kjos. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
And the rain fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of his hand
We know without a shadow of a doubt that our sweet mother is in the arms of Jesus and is now free of pain – we find comfort in this.
The family would like to thank Harrisburg Funeral and Cremation for the care and concern shown in taking care of us and our sweet mom. They have been wonderful to work with during this difficult time. The family would also like to thank the church family of Arlington Baptist Church for their love, support, and countless prayers.
The family will greet friends for a visitation from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday March 15, 2022 at Arlington Baptist Church Chapel. Funeral to immediately follow at 3 p.m. with Reverend Rick Whittier officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Church cemetery.
