Paul Eugene Earls

Paul Eugene Earls, 82, passed away on May 29, 2019 at home surrounded by his family in Charlotte, NC. He was born on December 28, 1936 in Avondale, NC to the late Ollie Paul and Shirley Earls.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Earls of 41 years; children, Paul Gene Earls, Colen Lee Earls (Michelle), Kimberley Earls Hill (Tom), Christopher Paul Earls (Suzi), and Craig Michael Earls (Catrina); seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Paul had a heart for serving others and serving them well. He served his country as a police officer in the US Air Force. As a Captain, he retired after serving over 29 years with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department. Paul served in various departments while at CMPD, including leading the communications department when the first 911 systems were being implemented. He was proud to be part of such an important step forward in serving the Charlotte community. He was known by many as a wonderful instructor and a great leader. Paul loved the police department. He was dedicated to serving the city of Charlotte, his home, and his community as well. This service paled in comparison to how much Paul loved and served his family.

A memorial service will be held Saturday June 8, 2019 with visitation at 1:30pm and the memorial service will follow at 3:00pm at Woodlawn Baptist Church, 4622 Nations Crossing Road,Charlotte, NC 28217
