We are sad to announce the passing of [ Nancy Marie Stubbs Bell ] originally of Brooklyn, New York. Born on February 4, 1941, She died peacefully, at the age of 82, on Sunday, February 19, 2023.
Nancy, daughter of Phillip Stubbs and Nevada Mock, passed away, surrounded by her loved ones after a battle with neurological complications
Nancy is survived by (4) children, Donald, Donna, Gerald and Travis. She leaves behind (12) grandchildren, Lavena, Christopher, Jasmin, Rodrick, Ramel, Rashad, Eminent, Jerell, Tavion, Juel, Bristles, and Syanne, (12) great grandchildren Nancy is also survived by her Brother Phillip Stubbs.
Being an industrious, single parent, in the mid-1960's, Nancy explored the culture of the black movement. Wearing an afro, and red black and green. Nancy could often be found burning incense, while designing and sewing African dashikis.
Following in the footsteps of her grandmother, Maurice Mock, Nancy gained culinary skills, mastering many dishes.
Nancy taught all of her children to have pride, dignity, and self-awareness. Nancy always disciplined her children with love. Nancy insisted her children having self respect and respect for others, and was a tower of strength, when comfort was needed.
In the mid-1970's, when disco was popular, Nancy loved dancing to her favorite song, ' Victim ', by Candi Staton. Whether residing in the Kingsborough development, or the Thompkins development in Brooklyn, New York. Nancy was well liked and respected in her community. Nancy's weaknesses, in fact, made her a strong, independent, self-reliant, self-efficient, and determined, single parent. Once Nancy made up her mind to do something, no one could change her mind.
Nancy possessed a very amazing rare gift. She had a sense of humor and a beautiful smile that could light up any room. Her wit was razor sharp and she was known to say exactly what was on her mind, in hopes of helping you see a new perspective.
Nancy loved Coffee Haagen Dazs, Entenmann's Chocolate Donuts and Hostess cup cakes just to name a few.
Nancy was open to exploring many religions, in her quest to tap into her spirituality. In the twilight of her life, she found, accepted, and embraced her love for Jehovah God, and truly, believed in his promise of a future resurrection.
