Margaret E Tilley

Margaret Tilley, 83, of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, February 20, 2025. She was born on October 17, 1941, to the late Becky Chavis and Rodger English. She was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Tilley, and her brother, Willie Chavis.

Margaret is survived by her loving daughters: Teresa Williams and husband Mark, Sheila Mosley and husband Johnny, and Telea Paettie and husband John, as well as her daughter-in-law, Debbie Tilley. She was a cherished grandmother to six grandchildren: Derrek Tilley and husband Steve, Alisha Auten and husband Jason, Johnny Mosley and wife Sarah, Harli Tilley, Keith Mosley, and Hunter Paettie and wife Sulmy. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Summer, McKenzie, Grayson, and Caleb.

Margaret is also survived by her siblings: sisters Francis Culpepper, Peggy Morris, Jackie Chavis, and Linda Henson, and brothers James Chavis, Johnny Chavis, Gilbert Chavis, and Bobby Chavis.

Her love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Margaret retired from Baldor Motors, where she dedicated her career to building tachometer motors. She made her home in Harrisburg, NC, for the past 49 years, touching the lives of everyone she knew with her kindness, grace, and compassion. She deeply embraced her American Indian heritage.

Margaret found great joy in nurturing life, tending to her yard, and recreating plants and flowers. She had a special talent for transforming old furniture into beautiful new pieces, bringing her both fulfillment and creativity. Her love extended to furry friends, cherishing the companionship of both cats and dogs.

A service to celebrate Margaret’s life will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Visiting Angels and their nurses, Quin and Leah, for their special care and kindness during Margaret’s illness. They would also like to thank Jocelyn and Kiki at The Greens at Cabarrus for their compassion and support.

Flowers are welcomed at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Greens at Cabarrus in Margaret’s memory.
