Linda Gaylyn Townsend

Linda Gaylyn Townsend, 59, of Harrisburg, NC passed away on February 9, 2022.

Linda was born in Hardford County, Maryland on May 4, 1962 to the late Thomas Kilby and Shirley Honaker. She is survived by her husband Leroy Byron Townsend and her three beautiful children Cameron Shade Issel, Joshua David Townsend, and Emily Grace Townsend.

Linda was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer in November of 2018.  She spent the last 3+ years fighting the fight, never letting Cancer get the best of her and dictate what she was going to do.  She was so full of life.  Always on the move, either biking, hiking, paddle boarding or just working around the house with her flowers and vegetable gardens.  That on top of being the best mother and wife in the world.  Even after the diagnosis she was determined that this was not going to define her or change what she was going to do in this life.  She pushed hard to make sure that everything her family saw on a daily basis was as normal and upbeat of a life as anyone. 

She threw herself into Ovarian Cancer education and support efforts.  Not just for herself but for all women who are or will be affected by this terrible disease.  She felt the more people knew about the symptoms and potential markers the better.  As well as more research into new treatments and earlier detection methods being able to help to minimize and hopefully eliminate this type of tragedy for anyone else.

This Beautiful Soul has passed from this earth, but will never be gone from our hearts!
