Lillian Diane Lambert

Lillian Diane Lambert, 85, of Harrisburg, NC, passed away on August 27, 2024 at Atrium-Northeast, surrounded by loving family. 

Diane was born in Thaxton, Mississippi to the late O.V. and Nell Reagan Busby. Diane grew up in Dallas, Texas, where she met John B. Lambert, the love of her life. John and Diane married in 1957 and together built a family full of love with strong bonds. John preceded Diane in death by 14 years and she never wavered in her immense love for him. There’s no doubt she is happily by his side right now.

Diane is survived by three children who miss her greatly: Cindy Lambert, John Lambert, Jr. (wife Jan), and Mark Lambert (wife Lynne); along with one stepdaughter (Joni Lambert Fields). She also leaves five grandchildren, whom she loved dearly: LeAnne, Michael, Stephanie, Ashlie, and Zack; along with five great-grandchildren. 

Caring for people was Diane’s specialty. In her mid-thirties, she went to nursing school, proudly becoming president of her class. She retired from nursing several years ago, having worked at several hospitals and agencies over her life. Her group of nurse-friends, named “The Golden Girls,” remains from her time as a Red Cross nurse, over 25 years ago.

Diane was stylish and was always full of hospitality. She made friends everywhere she went. She had long-time friends from the “Golden Girls” group. She made great friends at the gym. She had wonderfully supportive and kind church friends from The Road Church in Mint Hill. She belonged to a monthly book club, full of more friends, meeting at a local tap house. She had great next door neighbor friends on both sides for over 25 years. She was a founding and active member of the “Wine-on-the-Porch” group, which is a weekly affair where wine is sipped, and life’s great problems are discussed. She was still making friends while she was in the hospital, with her surgeon describing her as “delightful” (which she was). And, Diane was an animal lover…especially dogs...completely spoiling numerous grand-dogs over the years.

All will miss her.

A memorial service for Diane will be held September 15 at 2:00 PM at The Road Church, which meets at the Masonic Lodge at 10224 Lawyers Road Mint Hill, NC 28227 .
