It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kareem Nasir Long, who tragically passed away too young on April 27, 2023, in Charlotte, NC. He was born on December 9, 2020, also in Charlotte where he spent his entire life surrounded by his loving family.
Kareem touched the hearts of everyone he met with his kind spirit and infectious smile. His favorite song was BINGO and his favorite word words were mommy, daddy, okay and I love you. He was blessed to be cared for by so many great doctors and nurses. Kareem’s favorite home health nurse was Frances Smith. He gave her the nickname “ya ya”.
Kareem is survived by his mother LeNitra McCarter and father Shireak Long. Kareem was loved by so many including; his maternal grandparents Dawn Loudermilk, Lewis McCarter and Selena McCarter, paternal grandparents Nicole Redfern, Aries Long and JoAnn Johnson, great grandparents Charles and Nannie Loudermilk, Anita Redfern and Andrea Witherspoon, aunts Brandy McCarter, Mariah Glenn, Asia Long, Zaniah Long and M’kaylen Redfern, his uncles Javan McCarthy, Junior McCarter, and Ashton Long-Johnson. Although his time with us was brief, he brought immense joy to their lives that cannot be measured.
