Judy Smith

Judy Kathleen (Mead) Smith, 65, of Concord, NC passed away peacefully on August 20 th , 2022 at Novant
Health Huntersville Medical Center following a brave battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving
family.

Judy was born in Jamestown, NY on May 26, 1957 to the late Walter “Scotty” Mead and Joyce (Johnson)
Mead. Along with her father, Judy is preceded in death by her maternal grandparent: Harold and
Gertrude Johnson; and paternal grandparent: Leland and Clara Mead.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Dale Smith; three children: Sara (Ryan) Bennett of Elon, NC,
Ryan Smith of Concord, NC and Heather (Landon Simmons) Smith of Concord, NC; and two grandsons:
Trevor and Easton Bennett; her mother Joyce Mead of Jamestown, NY; and sisters Susan (Mark
Mcconnon) Leonard, Barbara Foulk and Christine (James) Reed; and many nieces and nephews.

Judy was a graduate of Southwestern Central High School and Jamestown Community College, and
spent most of her career working as a dental receptionist in both NY and NC before retiring. She
enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and was an avid sports fan. She loved
NASCAR, the New York Mets and Carolina Tarheel basketball.

The funeral will be a private ceremony with only close family members present.
