James Nelson Monday, Sr.

James Nelson Monday, Sr., 93, passed away on October 8, 2019 in Charlotte, NC.

James was born on October 1, 1926 to the late Carl and Thressa Monday in Charleston, WV.

Along with his parents, James is preceded in death by his wife Ruth D Monday, son Joseph H  Monday, brothers Kenneth and Vernon Monday.

He is survived by sister Phyllis Coomer of Florida, son James N Monday, Jr (Robin), grandchildren Randall Monday (Skarlett), Tiffany Sanford (Tim), Leah Monday (Mark) and seven great grandchildren.

James was a World War II Navy veteran, and firefighter. A hardworking man, he loved using his hands to build and fix things. As a younger man, he spent most of his time outdoors, taking care of his garden and working in the yard. In his later years, he enjoyed watching westerns and sports and getting visits from his family. He was also a loving father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather. A visitation will be at St Pauls Lutheran Church in Salisbury, NC on November 2, 2019 at 1:00PM, with a memorial service and burial in the church cemetery to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Pauls Lutheran Church Youth Ministries Fund.
