Kannapolis

James Arthur Jacobs, fondly known as Duke, was a beloved member of the community whose presence brightened the lives of those around him. His journey through life was marked by his dedication to various roles, including his time as a Worker at Popeye's Chicken, Usher at Phoenix Movie Theater, and Security personnel at Bardo Brewing.

Born on October 20, 1989, in Washington D.C., Duke was a beacon of positivity and kindness to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His education journey took him through D.C. and Maryland schools, leading him to Potomac High School and later to Job Corp.

Duke will always be remembered for his warm personality and giving spirit. Described as a hero to everyone, he stood up for others and served as a guiding light in their lives. His easy-going nature, observant demeanor, and caring attitude touched the hearts of many. Whether he was motivating his co-workers or encouraging his friends, Duke's loving nature shone through in everything he did.

Outside of work, Duke had a passion for sports that brought joy into his life. He found solace and excitement in the world of sports, which further highlighted his vibrant spirit. Duke knew the LORD. He was baptized as a boy at Greater Morning Star Pentecostal Church.

On March 19, 2024, Duke passed away at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion. He is survived by:  James Brisbon, Valerie Davis (Shaun), Greg Brisbon, Nicole Jacobs, Kendrick Jacobs, God sister Triniea Holland, special friend Charisse Dawson, very close cousin Deavon Celey and a host of other relatives and friends whose lives he enriched with his presence. He is preceded in death by his mother Louise Jacobs, sisters Stacey Jacobs and Linda Jacobs, and brother James Brisbon Jr.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on March 30, 2024, starting at 12:00 PM at Harrisburg Funeral & Cremation in Harrisburg, NC. It will serve as an opportunity for all who knew James to come together and honor the impact he had on their lives.

In remembrance of Duke's legacy, let us carry forward his spirit of generosity and love towards others. Duke will forever remain in our hearts as a cherished individual who made the world a better place with his kindness and caring nature.
