Gus Clyde McKinney

Gus Clyde McKinney, 87, passed away in Concord on October 23, 2019.

Husband. Father. Grandfather. Brother. Veteran. Friend.

Gus was born in Spruce Pine, North Carolina on May 29, 1932 to the late Glenn and Cora McKinney. Along with his parents, Gus was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Patricia McKinney.  He is survived by his brother, Jesse McKinney and his wife Beverly, son Steve McKinney and wife Christy, and their children Sydney Julie, Ashley, Aubrey, and William. 

Gus was a devout man with strong principles.  He was a quiet man whose strength of character served as an inspiration to those whose lives he touched.  He was always ready with a kind word and a gentle smile.  He loved his family and adored his wife Pat.  Gus always placed the needs of those he cared about above his own.  He will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, October 27, at Harrisburg Funeral Home and Cremation located at 3840 Highway 49 South Harrisburg, NC 28075. Please feel free to drop in between 3:30 and 5:00 to visit and share your memories with family and friends. 

In honor of his Veteran status, Gus and Pat will be inurned at 10 AM Monday, October 28 at Salisbury National Cemetery.
