Glenda Louise Hodge, 44, of Harrisburg, NC born on the Caribbean Island of Saba, passed away on August 14, 2018.
Glenda, the first of four children by Alva and Yolande Hassell, was born on December 20, 1973.
She was raised on the small island of Saba in the Dutch Caribbean, where she developed her strength to take on anything. The love of her family and friends helped fuel her sense of strength. She obtained a Master’s Degree in International Business from Johnson & Whales University. After graduating from J&W university she married her husband and moved to the United States. She had a natural gift for cooking island cuisine and shared it with friends and family. No surprise since her family is known for creating delicious food. She also had a beautiful sense of style for interior design and wanted to share it with all.
She will be greatly missed by her loving husband Ryan Hodge, “furry baby” (dog) Layla, and wonderful family, her father Alva Hassell, brother Ronald Hassell, sisters Charlena and Christina Hassell, nephews Tyreke Hassell and Keeshaun Hughes, niece Teyana Hassell, and grandmother Vitalis Simmon. She will also be missed by her close friends Virginia and Jonathan Halter, Erica Simmon, Judith Ras Bickell, Wayne Johnson, Janida Peterson, Minerva Groeneveldt, Maria Gaskin Grey, and many more.
Her extended family (blood relatives and in-laws), and friends includes too many to name that have had a special impact on her life, all of which will greatly miss her as well.
She was preceded in death by her mother Yolande Hassell.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made Carolina Breast Friends in Glenda's honor.
A Memorial Service will be held at Harrisburg Funeral & Cremation, 3840 NC Hwy 49 South, Harrisburg, NC 28075 on Monday August 20th 2018 at 5pm.
