Elizabeth Marie Jones

Elizabeth Marie Jones, 51, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022 at her home in Harrisburg, North Carolina.

Lizzie was born in Shelby, NC on October 16, 1970 to Thomas Jones and Beth A. Pollhammer.

She is preceded in death by her father. Lizzie is survived by her mother Beth Pollhammer of Concord, NC, brother Chris Jones of Concord, NC, sister Tracie J Lewis of Troy, NC, niece Brancy Rollins & family of Concord NC, nephews Travis Phillips & family, Dillion Phillips & family, and Daniel Phillips.

Lizzie, as she was affectionately called, grew up in Harrisburg.  She attended Cabarrus County Schools and graduated from Central Cabarrus High School.

Always an outdoor lover, she chose landscape and irrigation design as her career.  It was hard work, but she loved it.  She had a strict work ethic and took great pride in her work. She earned the respect of her clients and her coworkers. She was forced to resign after a serious accident rendered her disabled.  She was a real trooper and was determined to walk again.  She did, after fifteen surgeries.

From a very young age, she loved animals.  She adored all of her pets and there were many over the years.  She had cats, fish, birds, and dogs, dogs, dogs.  Although she had a beautiful voice she did not like to perform.  She entered one talent contest and won first place.  That was enough affirmation for her.  She was a music lover.  Her taste was eclectic, but the classic women of jazz and blues were her favorites.

Lizzie had a big, loving heart.  She loved her family and will be greatly missed by those who loved her.  The family appreciates the love and support received from so many.

In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to the Cabarrus County Animal Shelter (244 Betsy Carpenter Pl SW, Concord, NC 28025 )

Guestbook

Beth, I am so very sorry to hear of Liz’s passing. There are so many memories since we grew up together and dated as teenagers. I remember sitting in her room listening to Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin and seeing how see could feel the music and that was just wonderful to see. I remember taking Liz to the prom when we were in high school. She looked so beautiful and glowed the entire time. Liz has always had a very special place in my heart. Your family always treated me as family and I truly felt as if I was indeed family. Liz was such a beautiful person and she will be missed.

I was so sorry to see this. Liz was a special person. I worked with her years ago at Scott and Associates Landscape and Irrigation. One of Liz's things that made her special but confounded us all was her ability to arm wrestle and beat guys four times her size. I'd always bet on her no matter who she was up against, because apt as not, she'd win.
I also used to go to hear her mom at the Charlotte Folk Music Society meetups which helped spark a continuing love of acoustics music. God bless her family and prayers for you all.

Oh Elizabeth! How we will miss you! You were loved by so many. I remember when I first met you! I enjoy having a parrot and learned that you do too so our first visit together was full of "bird" talk. We continued our friendship for all these years and I never dreamed I would not see you again and enjoy your company. I am so sorry for your passing and it is a reminder to always love and be kind to each other. Your love light shines each time an animal is adopted or rescued or a new fledgling flies from it's nest. Still, the world looks a little different now without you in it. Rest In Peace sweetheart! May your beautiful family find comfort in the memory of all the good times you had together. God bless you all and know I love you!!

It's wonderful to read this tribute to Lizzie's very full life and shining character. We learn that she possessed many talents, was a hard, dedicated worker, and had a heart overflowing for animals. She faced immense challenges after her accident and her spirit of resilience was extraordinary. It's no surprise to learn of Lizzie's excellent musical ability as her mom, Beth, is also gifted in that way. I feel that Lizzie would have been a truly outstanding person to know and anyone would appreciate deeply having such a friend. The passing of this sweet spirit must bring terrible sorrow to those who knew her. Our hearts go out to Beth and the family as they walk the journey of loss of their beloved, remarkable Lizzie.
