Delia Consuela Gentry, 86, formerly of Jersey City, New Jersey, more recently of Concord, North Carolina passed away at home on June, 11, 2024. Delia was born on July 16, 1937 in McDowell County, West Virginia to the late Lottie Clark and Will Kurt Kelly.
Along with her parents, Delia is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years James Gentry, daughters Baby Girl Gentry and Deborah Gentry Montague, granddaughter Baby Maria Vineyard, and siblings Alma, Margaret, Vennie, Joe, Raymond, William, James, Lafayette and John. Delia and James moved to New Jersey shortly after starting their family and spent the majority of their lives there. Delia had just recently sold her home in New Jersey and moved to North Carolina a few months ago.
Delia is survived by her daughters Jacqueline (Terry) and Felicia (Robert) and sons Johnnie Lafayette (Margie) and Ronald, grandchildren April (Chet), Kimberly (Jamal), Delia Sara, Terrance James (Jessy), Khai, Dasia, Jasmine, Joseph Lafayette, and Kareemah, great- grandchildren Khalil, Darius, Dejour, Dailen, Byron, Dior, Amir Joseph, Josiah, KiYomi, Dash, Kye'Zir and Ke' Moi, nieces Pernie, Monica, Diane, Francinette, Betty Jean, Rita and nephews Charles, James, Gene Skates, John Smyre, Johnny Dawson, John Hodge, and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends.
Delia's life was a tapestry woven with love, sacrifice and unwavering dedication to her family. She had a heart filled with compassion and empathy. She was EVERYTHING to everyone. There were no limits to her kindness as she spent her life caring for others, opening her heart and home to others in need. Whether assuming the mantle of mother, grandmother, aunt or caregiver, Delia's legacy is etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege of being touched by her soul.
