Cosette Dennis

Cosette Dennis, 82, passed away March 18, 2017 at her home in Charlotte, NC.

Cosette was born March 1, 1935 in Eatonton, GA to the late Bennie and Merial Reid. 

She is survived by her husband of 56 years Rufus Dennis; children Wallace “Clay” Dennis, Shirley “Big D” Dennis, Michael Dennis (Carolyn), Tjwana “Tee” Dennis-Jenkins (Keith), Naomi “Nayko” Dennis, Rachel “Rachey” Dennis, Zacchaeus “Buddy” Dennis (Linda), and Dorcas "Dodi" Dennis-Peoples (Raymond); grandchildren Dorcia “Ci Ci” Carrillo (Ruben), Salena Dennis, Lamar Dennis, Kenneth Robinson, Michael Robinson, Nicole Jenkins, Brandon Jenkins, Jacob Dennis, Gabrielle Dennis, Sean-Paul Gosett; siblings Louise Mays, Harry Reid, Yvonne Gates (Samuel); sisters-in-law Mary Johnson, Annie Ruth Farley, Minnie Cotton (Robert); brother-in-law Curtis Dennis; as well as a host of nieces and nephews and granddog ChiChi.

Cosette was a lady of faith and a prayer warrior.  She had a servant's heart and her life was her ministry. Her generosity was known by all her friends, family and neighbors.  She blessed so many who needed help.  Cosette enjoyed taking care of her family and was a loving homemaker.  Everything in her home had a proper place and it was kept spotless.  She was a wonderful cook and a great baker.  Her wonderful sense of humor and outgoing nature were just a few qualities that drew people to her.  While living in New York, she often took care of kids in the neighborhood so that the parents could go to work.  She believed in providing people, especially children, with the opportunity to experience new things.  Her hobbies included working crossword puzzles, watching soap operas, shopping, and taking care of plants.  Cosette had a green thumb and loved plants and flowers.  She also loved to dance and enjoyed the days when Sam Cooke, Chuck Berry, James Brown and Nina Simone were popular and music was good.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 22, 2017 at Harrisburg Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg, NC.  Viewing for Cosette will be at noon.  Funeral service will be at 1pm.
