Clifford Ares Burnett

Clifford Ares Burnett died peacefully at the home of his son Jeffrey D Burnett and son-in-law, Glenn Scott, Jr. in Charlotte, NC on Monday, November 8, 2021.

Cliff was born on April 15, 1936, in New Milford, CT, the son of Floyd W. Burnett and Laura Chapman Burnett. He was pre-deceased by a brother, William F. Burnett and survived by a sister, Glenys Burnett Stack, wife of 66 years, Roberta Fitz Burnett, sons, Steven J. Burnett of New York and Jeffrey D. Burnett of North Carolina, grandsons, Ryan and Gary, granddaughter, Jeanine and 3 great-grandchildren.

Cliff spent his life loving and serving his family, friends, neighbors, church family and community. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Kent, CT and the First United Methodist Church of Vero Beach, FL. He also had membership in the 1st Ecclesiastical Society of New Milford, CT, the Kent CT Historical Society, ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out) and Masons, Friendship Lodge #37, Southington, CT.

Clifford attended New Milford schools and graduated from the University of CT in 1959. His professional experience was mainly in sales and management in the machine tool field working for The Peck, Stow and Wilcox Company and co-founding the LVD Corporation. Following his 30-year career in the machine tool field, he joined his wife “Bobbie” in a farming operation and added an estate management operation which he left to his grandson Ryan in 2005.

A memorial service is being planned for the spring of 2022 in Kent, CT.
