Betty Sue McGuirt

Betty Sue McGuirt, 84, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2022. 

Betty Sue was born on January 29, 1938 to the late Willis Johnston McCorkle and Louise Peck McCorkle.

Along with her parents, Betty Sue is preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Jane McCorkle and grandson Benjamin Johnston McGuirt.

She is survived by her three sons, Robert Wilson McGuirt, Jr. (Dawn), Richard Johnston McGuirt (Penny), and David Allen McGuirt (Patty), seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Betty Sue’s greatest treasure was her friends and family. She was a lover of dogs, music, and dance and had a wonderful sense of humor. Betty Sue never met a stranger and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. The family is exceedingly grateful for the compassion shown to her by the staff of Morningside Assisted Living of Concord and in her final weeks, Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County.

A visitation will be held Sunday October 23, 2 p.m. at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church, followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m. Private burial at Gethsemane Cemetery and Memorial Gardens. Harrisburg Funeral & Cremation is serving the family.

Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County.
