Austin Eldred Meeks

Austin Eldred Meeks, 87, passed away February 10, 2020 at White Oak of Waxhaw.

Austin was born February 22, 1932 to the late Eldred and Elizabeth Meeks in Alexander City, AL.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Valerie Meeks, sister Betty Bowles (Bob), sons Phillip Meeks (Kathy) and Brad Meeks (Kim), daughter Meg Meeks Gentry, grandchildren Ashley George, Stephanie Meeks, Lauren Walker, Faye Simon, Tyler Meeks, Parker Meeks, Alex Meeks, and great grandchildren Carson Meeks, Mila George, Caleb Meeks and Joseph Simon.

Austin served his country as a member of the United States Navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA during the Korean War. He graduated from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, AL. Upon graduation he worked as a school teacher. Austin also worked in the life insurance and banking industries throughout his life. He loved his family dearly and made career changes to always put his family first. In retirement, he loved researching, planning, and building his multitude of projects, riding his motorcycle, and loving his family with all his might.

The family will hold a memorial service with military honors on Saturday February 15, 2020 at 11AM at Faith Presbyterian Church (7520 Charlotte Hwy, Fort Mill, SC 29707).
