Arline Marie Thomas

December 17, 1936 — March 20, 2025

Charlotte, NC

Arline Marie Thomas, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, at the age of 88, surrounded by her loving family in Charlotte, North Carolina. Born on December 17, 1936, in Corona, California, Arline brought joy and warmth into the lives of everyone she encountered.

She graduated from Bell Flower High School, where she began to cultivate her passion for cooking, which would later become legendary among family and friends. Arline was particularly known for her delicious meatballs, egg bread, and other cherished Italian dishes that brought everyone together around the dining table. Her love for cooking was matched only by her dedication to reading, painting, and attending church. An avid follower of current events, Arline took great pleasure in staying informed and often shared her insights with those around her.

In her later years, Arline enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, such as visiting local malls, exploring yard sales, and feeding her beloved animals. She could often be found watching them for hours, finding comfort and peace in their presence.

Arline is survived by her dear sister, Linda Blanton of Herdon, Virginia. She leaves behind her beloved children: Kenneth Dean Blanton of Shelby, North Carolina; Ted Thomas of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Sharon Hunt of Charlotte, North Carolina. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Julie Smith, Holly Hunt, and William Hunt, as well as her great-grandchildren: Jessie, Crissy, David Jr., Mackenzie, Ryan, Sebastian, Kalliyah, and Dylan.

Arline was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel Brusca and Frances Brusca; as well as her son, William Blanton, who was taken from her too soon. Despite these losses, the enduring love and bonds she created with her family will be remembered always.

A private family burial service will be held on March 24, 2025, at Sharon Memorial Park.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Bayata Home Health, Carolina Caring Hospice, and Linda Joye for their compassionate care and support during Arline’s final days.
